The game is played with eight 48-card Spanish decks – which means there are no 10s whatsoever. After placing your bet, you get to see the first card of the dealer. At this point, if you are convinced that your hand will be better than the dealer’s, you can place an additional bet in the Double Attack area. The second bet cannot exceed your initial bet. Once you have made your choice, you will receive two cards, and you have to select your next move. Your options are several: hit, stand, double the initial bet, double both bets (if you have played a Double Attack bet), and surrender. Keep in mind that you can double your bets even after you have hit the hand.
You can also split any pair of cards, and you can re-split up to four hands. Split Aces get hit only once, and any splits double both the initial and the Double Attack bet. Blackjack pays 1:1, which is a bit unfortunate. However, if you buy insurance and the dealer has a blackjack, you will get paid a 5:2 payout! As in many Playtech titles, the dealer draws to 16 and stands on all 17s.
Double Attack Blackjack also has an exclusive side bet called ‘Bust It!’. You place your wager on the corresponding area along with your initial bet, and hope that the dealer busts. There are several payouts, depending on the card that busts the dealer – but keep in mind that in order for you to win the side bet, the dealer must go down with exactly three cards. Despite that, this side bet is lots of fun, and can increase your winnings by quite a lot.
